SSTA RECOMMENDS PAY DEAL
The Scottish Secondary Teachers’
Association today recommended that the members vote “YES” in the
forthcoming ballot on the pay and conditions package for Scottish
teachers.
“Following a special conference today
where Association representatives from all parts of Scotland met together
to analyse the proposals, the recommendation to members is that they vote
“YES” in the ballot”, said David Eaglesham, General Secretary.
“The package presents teachers with
some considerable challenges in coming months and years and the new
culture which it brings will require considerable adjustment.
However, taken as a whole, the package does represent a significant step
forward for Scottish teachers. This Association will continue to
campaign vigorously to ensure that the package is made to work in the best
interests of members and the young people whom they serve.”
The Association ballot will open on
Monday 29 January and close on Monday 12 February when the result will be
declared.
“All SSTA members are to be urged to
use their vote in this ballot to show the clear view of secondary
teachers.”
