TO SCHOOL REPRESENTATIVES
FOR INFORMATION OF MEMBERS
Dear Colleague,
MCCRONE IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS
I write to update you on the state
of affairs regarding the McCrone talks.
The intended finishing date of
5 January was not met as the Scottish Executive withdrew from
the paper on pay and grading. As yet, they have not replaced
this paper with a revised version, but have simply referred to
a “21.5% increase over 3 years”. No more detail is as yet
known.
When, and if, full details are
available, these will go to the Implementation Group which would
then finalise the outcome of the process.
If the figures are agreed for
transmission to member organisations, they will then be the subject
of the full ballot of members originally planned, albeit with
a different time-scale. Members will be kept as fully informed
as possible of developments.
This delay is very unhelpful and
does not augur well for future events. Nonetheless, the
Association will, as it has always done before, make its decision
solely on the views of members. Please ensure that we have
current home addresses for all members to avoid disenfranchisement.
Yours sincerely
DAVID EAGLESHAM
General Secretary
