MCCRONE PROPOSALS
Following local meetings
of members, I write to give some clarification on certain points.
All APT/STs
will in 2003 have the choice of being placed on the Chartered
Teacher Scale or entering the job sizing exercise and
being placed on the PT scale at a point determined by job sizing.
All duties
currently done by APT/STs will continue to be done by them
until August 2003.
After
August 2003 and job sizing, chartered teachers (including former
APT/STs) will have no specific management function beyond that
of a teacher. All PT, DHT and HTs will have duties based
on job sizing. Job sizing exercise will cover all management
functions and will result in the allocation of all of these
functions to a PT/DHT/HT.
PTs,
DHTs and HTs will enter the job sizing exercise and be placed
on a scale point accordingly.
For those
appointed prior to 1 April 2001, if this point is lower than
their salary level at August 2003 full conservation will apply.
The single
column "New Pay Range" on pages 11 and 13 applies
to posts which have been job sized. The final column
of the assimilation tables on pages 11 and 12 apply to conserved
posts only.
Promoted
staff who are already conserved will continue to be
so and will assimilate as per their current conserved post
level.
Promoted
staff appointed after 1 April 2001, whose salary level
is later downgraded will be entitled to cash conservation for
up to three years. If, within that three-year period,
the new salary band overtakes the conserved salary, the teacher
will move on to the higher band. If not, the teacher
moves to the new (lower) salary after three years.
It should
be noted that the PT pay scale shown at the foot of page 13
refers only to those PTs who, at 1 August 2003, are conserved. DAVID EAGLESHAM
